A Meaningful Speaking Engagement

Some evenings stay with you long after they are over.

My recent speaking event in San Francisco was one of those evenings. It brought together a room full of thoughtful, accomplished women, and I left feeling grateful, encouraged, and even more committed to the work I am doing.

I shared excerpts from my newly published book, Enterprising Entrepreneurs: 16 Women of Color and Accomplishment, with a room full of women who are building businesses, leading with purpose, and encouraging one another along the way.

For this talk, I focused on three remarkable women from the book. As I shared their stories, I was reminded once again that entrepreneurship is about much more than business. It is about vision, persistence, service, and the willingness to create something meaningful, even when the path is not easy.

Why This Work Matters to Me

This work is very personal to me. Through my Women of Color and Accomplishment series, I have been painting portraits and telling the stories of women whose contributions deserve much more recognition than they have received.

Again and again, I come across women whose accomplishments are extraordinary, and yet many people have never heard their names. It is one of the reasons I keep painting, writing, and speaking. I want these women to be seen. I want their stories to be remembered. And I want other people, especially young people, to feel inspired by what these women achieved.

These are not just stories from the past. They are stories that still speak to us now. The courage, creativity, and generosity of these women still matter, and we still need their examples.

With Gratitude to the Sponsors

I am deeply grateful to NAWBO, New York Life, and Renaissance Center for sponsoring this event and for making space for these stories to be shared. I also appreciate everyone who attended and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

When I speak, I always hope the stories will connect with people in a real way. I hope they will leave feeling inspired, encouraged, or perhaps seeing history a little differently. That evening, I truly felt that connection, and I left feeling thankful.

Looking Ahead with Purpose

My hope is that Enterprising Entrepreneurs and the other six books in the Women of Color and Accomplishment series will introduce readers to extraordinary women from the past while also encouraging people in the present to think more deeply about courage, leadership, creativity, and service.

I left San Francisco feeing encouraged to continue with my mission. When we share these stories, we do more than honor the past — we help inspire the future.
