Exhibitions
From the Coloring Party, September 26, 2025 at Community Media Center of Marin.
Dr. Cindy Acker gave a talk at the Coloring Party.
A quote from the talk:
“It is amazing how through the arts people can receive information that they would not receive just being told.
And so they couldn’t walk away from it as they walked around and they saw the work that the children were doing. They were moved, and that’s exactly what we wanted.”
The coloring table was full of adults, while the younger people were admiring the art.
Shirley Hasley next to her portrait, the 100 painting in the series. In 1965, Shirley was the first Black teacher in Mill Valley. She taught elementary school there and at Marin City for 38 years.
